The amounts raised through the 2 percent of the income tax redirection to PACT Foundation in 2008 and 2009 contributed to financing 6 community projects

23/02/2010

PACT Foundation benefited of a total of 10269,5 RON due to individuals who redirected 2% of their income tax in the years 2008 and 2009 (1520,78 RON were redirected to PACT in 2008, and 8748,81 RON in 2009). Over 100 people thus supported the Foundation’s activities.

The total amount raised was used to fully finance 2 community projects and to complete the budgets of 4 other projects that contributed to the development of disadvantaged communities from South Romania. The projects were implemented in Gorj and Arges counties by community members. Over 1400 people currently benefit from the results of these projects.

Community members matched the grant they received (approximately 3600 RON for each community) with a significant local contribution, in terms of voluntarily involved human resources, time and energy spent, raw materials, as well as financial resources raised from within the community.

The 6 projects that were financed thanks to the contributions of people that redirected 2% of their income tax to PACT Foundation, were aimed at:

-    Setting up 2 playgrounds in Costesti and Campulung cities, Arges county. Over 360 children currently benefit from these playgrounds. These 2 community projects were fully financed through the mechanism of 2% income tax redirection - the project in Costesti was allocated 3595 RON and the project in Campulung received 3482 RON.

-    Cleaning up Bilta riverbeds in Bilta village, Runcu commune, Gorj county. 200 families (around 950 persons) benefit from the cleaning of the river. This project was partly financed through 2% redistributions, with a sum of 1310,75 RON.

-    Setting up and equipping a sports base for approximately 80 young people from Borosteni commune, Gorj county. The project was partly financed from 2% redirections, with an amount of 1091,44 RON.

The rehabilitation of 150 meters access road that was impracticable on bad weather conditions, for the community members of Enculesti village, Arges county. 680 RON raised through 2% contributions helped PACT Foundation to complete the financing of this project.

-    Initiating a program meant to develop specific abilities needed in order to sustain school attendance and to raise self-esteem for a group of 16 children belonging to disadvantaged families in Golesti village, Arges county. The 2% contributions added up 110 RON to the budget of this project, needed to complete the financing of about 3600 RON allocated by PACT Foundation.

PACT Foundation takes this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to financing these projects, by using the provision for 2% income tax distribution. Thank you for helping us support these communities in implementing projects that had a real and significant impact over the lives of people that belong to them, thus giving them confidence, will and strength to further create positive changes in their communities.
