Public Report in support of community projects in Constanta sustained by PACT through Community Fund Pontus Euxin In early June 2011, PACT launched Community Fund Pontus Euxin, totaling 32.600 RON, under its management. The Fund was established by selling tickets at the conference-event, held up by actor Dan Puric in Constanta, on November 20th 2010. The event was organized by a group of citizens in Constanta (constituted as an Initiative Group for Community Fund Pontus Euxin), with support from PACT Foundation, in order to attract funds to sustain local community projects. The main purpose of the fund is to stimulate initiative groups and NGOs in Constanta to develop projects that contribute to producing positive changes in different urban communities in the city of Constanta.

Sons of the Village - PACT for people and Romanian village actions

04/10/2011

PACT Foundation held Thursday, September 29th, from 19.30 at Clubul Taranului (in Muzeul Taranului Roman [Romanian Peasant Museum]) a cocktail reception in order to raise funds to support projects implementation of the initiative groups of villages in southern Romania. The event was attended by over 100 people: leaders of initiative groups formed with PACT support in the five rounds of community interventions, business representatives, partners and sponsors of PACT Foundation, founders, consultants, members of the Foundation Board, sponsors and partners in making the event, journalists, NGO friends and other guests eager to contribute to the development of rural communities in Romania.

Total amount 7600 lei collected at this event by selling tickets and from "all pay" auction ("Everyone pays") for objects with a story obtained by donation will be directed to the Community Fund managed by PACT and will be used to support community projects and social or cultural entrepreneurship from groups of citizens in rural communities in the southern part of the country.

For every leu donated, the Association for Community Relations (ARC) doubled the amount up to 6500 lei, which accounts for a total of 14100 lei (equivalent to more than three grants in the amount of 4500 lei each, routinely granted by PACT for projects from citizens of rural and small urban areas).

The host of the event, Melania Medeleanu, is also involved in a social project which she is very fond about, in Clinceni commune (Ilfov county). Melania Medeleanu participated at the "all pay" auction for a vintage hat (which belonged to the owner of "Niculae Anghelescu" company in Bucharest from the beginning of the twentieth century), which she entered into possession in an unexpected way, as a gift from auction winner of this object.

The guests have been accompanied throughout the event, by spectacular vivid statues of Masca Theatre with symbolic gestures, calling to human solidarity beyond the boundaries of time and space.

Actor Mihai Malaimare entered live online from Masca Theatre, where he was holding general rehearsal for the season premiere and sent a message of encouragement and reliance for initiatives to support the village.

Networking games with prizes have animated the audience from the start.

Tonica Quartet (Alexandru Malaimare, Dumitru Porcescu, Emanuel Vots, Lucian Nicolescu) played with talent symphonic processing folk songs, along with Raul Stanulescu from George Enescu Music High School, they delighted audiences throughout the evening.

40 paintings, engravings and photographs, along with those donated for fundraising by famous painters and a photographer have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The most anticipated moment of the evening was the "all pay" auction of unusual items donated to PACT Foundation. The specific sober voice of the auction driver and gavel sound have created a feeling of involvement and competition, bringing to PACT Community Fund the amount of 5055 lei!

The manager of Muzeul Taranului Roman [Romanian Peasant Museum] congratulated and invited to help attract resources to the Romanian village, the revival of traditions and modernization.

Artist Mircea Nechita explained the significance of engraved bottle of wine which he donated for auction confessing he remained "a peasant from Maramures", lost in Bucharest.

Journalist Ligia Necula, from Radio Romania Cultural, shared her experience as a volunteer in one of the PACT Foundation projects, "Initiation and creative camp for children," in Brebu village, Prahova county.

Cristi Enache's short film "Testimony of an artist", based on interviews with many artists who donated their work to PACT was designed in their presence and was a touching moment of human solidarity.

Raffle prizes kept audience guessing and gave pleasant surprise for those who won various objects such as vouchers, albums, CDs, magazine, quilling photo frame or DVD!

Over 100 participants to the event enjoyed the house wine and products offered by sponsors.
