The initiative group for the establishment of the Pontus Euxin Community Foundation in Constanta, held on Saturday, November 20, an extraordinary conference, with the participation of actor Dan Puric, entitled "About Love and Martyrs." It was a fundraising event, organized by the Foundation PACT, within the Community Foundation Development Program in Romania, initiated and coordinated nationally by the Association for Community Relations (ARC), in partnership with the Foundation for Partnership (REPF) and PACT.
The event, hosted by the House of Culture, was held in a full venue, with an audience of nearly 800 people, receptive and enthusiastic. By selling tickets, the initiative group has mobilized the material resources necessary for the establishing of the Community Foundation, which is the sum of approximately 32 000 Ron, a 30 000 Ron grant will be added by Environmental Partnership Foundation (www.repf.ro), as lead partner responsible for this component of the national program. During 2011, this funds will be used for local community projects in Constanta.
In support of this initiative, Dan Puric agreed to support this Conference, which intended, and succeded, to break the barrier between stage and audience and debated, in an interactive manner, some aspects of everyday life. The very theme, "About Love and Martyrs", attempted to revive the community's philanthropic spirit, to revive people who have forgotten to be human - to love, to want to live well, to understand who is the other man beside him.
Also, in the foyer of the House of Culture, the public could purchase books by author Dan Puric: "On Beautiful Man" and "Who We Are" and received autographs from the actor, in a special session held at the end of the show.
The initiative for the Pontus Euxin Community Foundation Constanta belongs to a group of professionals, with careers in various fields, who have decided to become actively involved in creating a Constanta community spirit and community transformation in a real home, beneficial to all its inhabitants, especially those less favored. Along with the founding members, the event was attended by a group of 16 young volunteers, high school and college students, who have contributed to the conference organizing.
