Conference on „Community Development within the National Rural Development Program (NRDP)”

03/12/2009
During September 10th – 12th 2009, the Resource Center for Non-profit Organizations in Oltenia (CRONO), in partnership with the Romanian Association for Council and Support (ARCS), organized in Craiova the 3rd edition of the Annual Community Development Conference of RuralNet – the network of organizations active in community development in the rural areas. The conference this year focused on “Community Development within the National Rural Development Program (NRDP)”. The conference hosted the presentation of CRONO and ARCS as partners in the project “RuralNet – an active role in implementing the National Rural Development Plan”, which ended in September 2009. The aim of the project consisted in building the capacity of RuralNet to promote the principles of community development within the National Rural Development Program. To this purpose, the 2 partners pursued the achievement of the following objectives: developing a methodology for monitoring rural development projects (first 3 months of the project), elaborating a study based on monitoring 60 rural development projects (the following 6 months of the project) and promoting community development as horizontal policy within the NRDP. The target groups of the project have been member organizations of RuralNet, as well as other entities (institutions, enterprises, NGOs) benefiting from funds within the NRDP. The conference also hosted the launching event for the study elaborated within the project; this study represents a reflection of the image of community development (and its principles) at the level of projects financed through the NRDP; it is a useful tool both for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development and for RuralNet in planning future actions.
