SURVEY ON THE PROFILE AND THE ROLE OF THE COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANISATIONS DEVELOPED UNDER PACT PROGRAMMES
  

The survey aims to identify the role performed by the communy-based organisations developed under PACT programmes. Its specific objectives are to draw a profile of these organisations, to explore their strengths and their weaknesses, as well as to generate a set of conclusions and recommendations on the basis of the diagnosis, in order to  enhance the functionality of the community-based organisations and the efficiency of PACT programmes.

THE SONS OF THE VILLAGE 
"THE SONS OF THE VILLAGE . A study regarding the attitudes and practices of community members concerning the role of the sons of the village in local development" is a piece of research initiated by PACT and Allavida and carried out by Operations Research. The study describes situations and ways in which natives of a certain locality, having left it and having attained a high social status, (the sons of the village) are interested and take the initiative to develop their native communities.

   

 
The main topics of the research are the types of assistance, the motivation and context of certain initiatives, the involvement of the community, local authorities and community-based organisations. A distinct chapter is dedicated to the meetings of the sons of the village, that have become a tradition of the community in the respective localities. This is a qualitative study, carried out in 17 rural communities, situated in 9 counties (Braila, Sibiu, Cluj, Iasi, Vaslui, Harghita, Ialomita, Gorj and Timis) deliberately selected function of the involvement of the sons of the village and the representativity of the socio-economic variety. In-depth interviews were carried out with 47 respondents, sons of the village, representatives of the public local authorities and other members of the community. The data were collected in 2005 and the research report was published in June 2006.
