Public Report in support of community projects in Constanta sustained by PACT through Community Fund Pontus Euxin In early June 2011, PACT launched Community Fund Pontus Euxin, totaling 32.600 RON, under its management. The Fund was established by selling tickets at the conference-event, held up by actor Dan Puric in Constanta, on November 20th 2010. The event was organized by a group of citizens in Constanta (constituted as an Initiative Group for Community Fund Pontus Euxin), with support from PACT Foundation, in order to attract funds to sustain local community projects. The main purpose of the fund is to stimulate initiative groups and NGOs in Constanta to develop projects that contribute to producing positive changes in different urban communities in the city of Constanta.

PACT Foundation held Wednesday, December 7th, from 19.30 at Café Godot Theatre, a medieval theme party, which is the second fundraising event from private sources for the Community Fund for action and transformation of villages in southern Romania. The total amount collected at this event, of 8754 lei, from selling tickets, "all pay" auction (everyone pays) for special objects donated and classic auction for works of art offered by artists, will be used to support projects initiated by groups of citizens in rural communities in southern Romania.

Dan Puric supported the establishment of the Community Foundation in Constanta

The initiative group for the establishment of the Pontus Euxin Community Foundation in Constanta, held on Saturday, November 20, an extraordinary conference, with the participation of actor Dan Puric, entitled "About Love and Martyrs." It was a fundraising event, organized by the Foundation PACT, within the Community Foundation Development Program in Romania, initiated and coordinated nationally by the Association for Community Relations (ARC), in partnership with the Foundation for Partnership (REPF) and PACT.

200.000 people took part in the country clean-up on September 25th

Around 200.000 people around the country took part at the country clean-up organized by Let's do it Romania team on September 25th. Among the counties with the highest citizen participation rate, we are glad to encounter 3 counties from South Romania were PACT Foundation has supported the establishment of 23 community-based organizations: Arges, Dolj and Gorj.

Social Protection and Inclusion in Europe - European Conference

Brussels, November 9th 2010 - Hall Amazone, Brussels, hosted the final conference of the project "Promoting debates in support of strengthening the Open Method of Coordination (OMC) on social protection and social inclusion", funded by the European Commission through the PROGRESS program, run by Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities.  The moderator was Denis Stokkink, president of the European Think Tank "Pour la Solidarité, the conference organizer and the project leader.

Promoting volunteering in Voluntising 2

Between November 21st and 25th, 35 young people took part in a 5-day training organized within Voluntising 2 - a project that aims at increasing youth involvement in volunteering activities. After having acquired information on advertising and volunteering and abilities in campaigning and teamwork, participants created 5 videospots (that you can watch below) and took the first steps in sustaining and developing online promotion campaigns for their teams and projects.

Come and join Voluntising 2

Between October 21st and November 29th, BYP - Beyond Youth Potential is organizing the project Voluntising 2, aimed at increasing awareness on volunteering. The event will take place in Bucharest and it will be consist of 3 components: a 5-day training in volunteering and advertising, 1 month promotion of media campaigns realized by participants and producing an information video on volunteering designed for NGOs.

Debates in Craiova on civic participation, under the aegis of Citizens’ Participation Week

We Support Let's Do It Romania Project

PACT supports the largest national social involvement project so far: "Let's Do It, Romania! - Cleaning across the whole country. In one day!"It is an unique social volunteer project, which involves cleaning the entire country of the cities outskirts trash, in a single day. That day, known as the National Cleaning Day, falls on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

First meeting between ANAF and NGO sector representatives

70 organisations signed the open letter regarding the dysfunctional application of the 2 percent mechanism

Open debate to alter the Volunteers Law

The 195/2001 Law, known as the Volunteers Law, is in open debate to be altered. A first series of discussions took place at the Senate of Romania, in mid April this year. At the reunion, Members of the Parliament, representatives of the private companies lobbying for the practice of volunteering, as well as NGOs collaborating with volunteers, Foundation PACT included, worked together.

The Government plans on spending extra money to check on tax payers that filled in preprinted 230 forms

PACT Foundation together with colleague NGOs drafted and signed an open letter meant to trigger an alarm signal to the Government and National Agency of Fiscal Administration, considering the lack of transparency, unity and coherence in the application of the 2% Mechanism. This mechanism is designed to permit tax payers to direct 2% of their previous year income tax and is enacted by article 57 in the Fiscal Code.

The amounts raised through the 2 percent of the income tax redirection to PACT Foundation in 2008 and 2009 contributed to financing 6 community projects

PACT Foundation benefited of a total of 10269,5 RON due to individuals who redirected 2% of their income tax in the years 2008 and 2009 (1520,78 RON were redirected to PACT in 2008, and 8748,81 RON in 2009). Over 100 people thus supported the Foundation’s activities. The total amount raised was used to fully finance 2 community projects and to complete the budgets of 4 other projects that contributed to the development of disadvantaged communities from South Romania.
